Ai Sayama

The person behind the name

Ai Sayama’s public career crosses film, music and games. After beginning in adult films in 2007, she later joined the dance-and-vocal group Black Diamond under the name L.V. Her move into music introduced a separate performance identity built around singing and dance.

In 2023, she also joined the live-action cast of Like a Dragon Gaiden. Game events and music performances added new settings to her work, while her retirement from adult films in September 2025 marked the end of one part of her career.

L.V: rhythm, recording and a shared stage

Closing one chapter

Sayama began her adult-film career in April 2007. Eighteen years later, she announced that her September 2025 release would be her last in that field. She made the announcement at the beginning of 2025, after completing filming.

Her message also looked forward. She distinguished retiring from adult films from leaving public life, explaining that her music work as L.V would continue. The change was a transition between parts of her working life, rather than a farewell to every form of performance.

A musical identity as L.V

Black Diamond introduced its debut single Super Duper in March 2023. Sayama performed with the group as L.V, moving into a setting where vocals, choreography and the relationship between members shape the finished performance.

The group released the English-language Sing Your Dream in May, alongside its first showcase at Zepp Haneda. The song’s release and the live event took place on the same day, bringing recorded music and an onstage introduction together.

An opportunity inside a game

Sayama applied to the live-action casting audition for Like a Dragon Gaiden because she liked games and was interested in taking part in one. Before the audition, her experience of this particular series came from watching someone else play.

She was one of five successful candidates, alongside Ayu, Ai Kaname, kson and Kokoro Nakayama. The roles used live-action footage, giving the selected performers a visible place within the game rather than only a voice credit.

The audition and the moment of selection

When the results were announced, Sayama described a mixture of surprise and confidence, followed by relief. Her experience of the audition included sharing a second-round group with Remu Suzumori and Ayaka Hattori, who also reached the final selection.

Meeting the game’s community

The game project took Sayama to public events, including Tokyo Game Show and a November 2023 gathering in Ikebukuro. She described appearing inside the game as a rare opportunity and valued the experiences that followed the audition.

She also spoke warmly about her fellow cast members. The relationships formed around the project mattered to her beyond the appearances themselves, and she hoped those friendships would continue after the promotional schedule ended.

Returning to the studio conversation

Her connection with the game series continued beyond its release period. SEGA named Sayama among the guests for episode 37 of Ryu Sta TV in February 2025, alongside Kokoro Nakayama and comedian Shuji Okuda.

The episode was organized around Goro Majima, the protagonist of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Okuda’s role was to explain the character’s history, with Sayama and Nakayama taking the learner roles in the discussion.
